The GHS carried the message that knowledge about the disease is a positive force that can make the lives of the sufferers better, with two symbolic cycling rides.
On April 23, 2018, on the occasion of World Hemophilia Day 2018 (April 17), the Greek Haemophilia Society organized two events in Athens and Thessaloniki. With these events, GHS aims to enhance the knowledge of this chronic disease and contribute to the ongoing effort to improve the lives of sufferers.
During the above-mentioned events, informational leaflets on the disease were distributed to the crowd. Moreover, two symbolic cycling rides by volunteer biking groups carried the message that “KNOWLEDGE MAKES US STRONGER” in both cities.

The President of the Greek Haemophilia Society, Mr. George Filippidis said: “We are very glad that on the occasion of World Hemophilia Day, we have the opportunity to talk about the disease and to inform people around us that today, with scientific advances in the field of diagnosis and treatment, people with haemophilia can live an almost normal life when access to appropriate treatment is available. Now, every younger generation has the potential to live better than the previous one, and this is an extremely encouraging fact that everyone needs to know. This year’s message is that “knowledge makes us stronger” and we thank warmly all those who helped us to bring it to the world”.
Among the volunteer cyclists who participated in this unique cycling route were also Christos Volikakis, Olympic Champion in Cycling, Zapheiris Volikakis, World Champion in Cycling and Panayiotis Lekkas, World Champion in Cycling, who honored with their presence the event of Athens.
